This Bayliner was caught in some bad weather which ripped out the two stainless swim platform support struts. After inspection it was evident why these had failed, they were a light gauge piece of tubing with the ends bent over and fastened with a single self tapper screw. Also the block below the duckboard was mounted vertically and was a single piece of plywood. The first thing we did was order a couple of upgraded struts custom made with solid base plates each end. To mount these below the platform we made up large composite blocks which had epoxy reinforced inserts for the fasteners. These were glassed to the underside and refinished to match. The new struts were mounted and bonded with Fixtech sealant for maximum bonding strength.
