We helped this customer reconfigure his Bertram 25 from twin engine installation to single. This entailed cutting out the old (rotted) twin engine beds, replacing this structure and installing new engine beds to suit the new Volvo inboard stern-drive engine. Internally not only did we discover that the old engine beds were rotted but also the longitudinal hull stiffeners and pads to support the bilge pumps. These were removed and replaced with composite board and epoxy, as were the new engine beds and redundant twin stern-drive holes in the transom. We cut the new stern-drive hole and pre-fitted the engine shield to ensure fitment. The owner requested a few other jobs done which included repairing some damage on the Port hull topsides, removal of an old through-hull transducer and glassing up the hull and removal of the transom ladder and refinishing this area. The boat will be going to the mechanic to fit the new engine soon and we look forward to seeing this boat re launched and operational again!
