We were asked if a pair of swim platforms could be added to this American made Chase 580. Almost anything can be done with modern composites and this was no exception. Although the mounting surface on the stern of this boat was a complex shape requiring the surface to be prepped with mould release and a solid FRP base flange made to acquire the exact shape. Once the flange was made, the platforms were moulded to this including the skirts and composite struts below. With the platforms fabricated, the mounting holes were drilled and then the platforms were removed to be glassed and finished with epoxy. The owner requested to have the platforms and the small step above finished with SeaDek. This involved making templates, digitizing these and emailing to SeaDek for machining. The SeaDek panels finished off the colour matched platforms very nicely. Looking at the boat you wouldn’t know that these have been added!
