The owner of this Clipper 40 called us after he started cutting out rotten reinforcement below his anchor winch, and he began to become overwhelmed by the size of the job. The work consisted of rotten plywood reinforcing sections below the deck, along the bulkhead behind this and also the core of the bowsprit. The bowsprit was removed and taken to our factory to carry out the work on this. The rotted plywood was removed and replaced with a combination of Thermolite and Divinycell foam, glassed with epoxy and finished in colour matched polyurethane. We also made the replacement panels for inside the anchor locker out of Thermolite which we pre-glassed in the factory. Once these were glued into position, they were glassed in and re-flowcoated. The deck section above this was repaired from damage when the bowsprit was removed. The owner also requested some extra work with various fiberglass and gelcoat repairs around the boat. The owner was confident enough to fit the refurbished bowsprit himself and also fit the new anchor winch so he took over with these tasks.
