We repaired and resealed this engine pod on a large Coxcraft.
An engine pod takes on a lot of stress. Since it’s cantilevered off the transom, it often flexes and sometimes cracks. This pod showed cracks at the top and near the side decks. The owner also reported that it was taking on water, which raised concerns.
We inspected the pod and didn’t find any obvious potential leaks in the main body. However, we noticed a poorly sealed access panel under the side deck which very likely could have been letting in water. We removed and resealed the panel properly to stop any water from entering.
We used epoxy throughout the repair to give the structure maximum strength and durability, fully repairing the engine pod, and refinishing in colour-matched polyurethane.
