It’s common to see older style boats that have been sitting for some years. This 6m Fraser Formula is a well-loved family treasure that was in desperate need of some TLC. The white gelcoat condition wasn’t too bad and could be brought back up with a good cut & polish however the blue panels were in bad shape and needed re-painting. As with most re-coating, we always recommend a good primer coat before painting. This guarantees the adhesion to the substrate and also prepares the surface for a good paint finish. There were a few repairs to do before the painting could begin. The owner requested the exact colour used to remain original, which was done using our in-house Valspar paint tinting system. He also requested the original pinstriping around the edges of the panels. There were a few gelcoat repairs done on the white as well as a crack in the bowsprit that was repaired. We also replaced the old windows which were cracked and crazed and fixed on with pop rivets. The new windows were restyled and fitted with our ‘fastener-free’ system to give the boat a more modern look. The owner also requested us to fit a new Raymarine plotter, VHF radio with a new antenna. A full detail was carried out before delivery to reveal an almost new looking boat!
