We were contacted by the owner of this Haines to inquire about how we do our transom replacements. We advised that the best process is Thermolite and epoxy. As it happened he visited while we were in the middle of the Stejcraft transom we did previously so we could show him the process in person. He suspected his transom was bad but when we cut it open, the rotten core literally fell out! This Haines also has the hull extensions similar to the Stejcraft so we had to work between the hulls in the same way. This causes some challenges when fairing because the flat section is in a valley and awkward to block down. The owner made the job easier for us by removing the engine and fittings from the transom. Another difference with this job is that it was a two tone colour scheme across the transom with dark blue above the white. This required two paint shots so added quite a bit more work. The colour matching turned out spot-on with an excellent result.
