Some may remember that we built a new training vessel for for this customer a couple of years back. This is the largest vessel in their fleet and it is badly in need of the usual maintenance, repairs and repainting. Getting the hull into the workshop was more difficult than expected and required the use of a mobile crane to carry it through the doorway. What was discovered once we began work was that below the waterline was affected by osmosis and needed grinding back to glass. This area will be refilled, faired and repainted but with an epoxy coating to avoid further issues with osmosis in the future. Also requested was to fill in the ballast tank scuppers in the side of the hull and also some redundant skin fittings below the waterline. We will keep you updated as this project progresses.
