The wrong propeller caused pitting in the gelcoat above the rudder!! It’s quite amazing what water pressure can do to a fiberglass hull when harmonics are concerned. In this case the wrong prop was fitted to this Spy ski boat which ate into the glass in two distinct areas. To repair these areas, the hollows […]
We regularly carry out this company’s sewer pipe repairs. The damage stems from branches and other debris finding their way into the pipes. On this occasion the damage was quite extensive and required temporary support on the inside of the tube to span the gaping holes. Once the outside was glassed, the inside was then […]
You may have seen this boat in our news section before. This Spider 24 trailer sailer had its hull bottom repaired and copper-coated last year along with a number of other jobs. This time we repaired a number of areas in the deck. Being a balsa cored deck, the areas were cut out and new […]
This engine replacement was done on the water which is always more challenging than when on the hard. An oyster punt was used with a small crane, then attached to this was a chain-block for more accurate lifting. The lifting in and out was quite simple however pulling the engine in and out of the […]
It just goes to show what can be done with fiberglass. This customer ran out of options to replace the original running boards for his hot rod vintage truck and asked if fiberglass could be a solution to a difficult problem. The steel running boards were sandblasted and primed before we laid them up with […]
We re-painted the superstructure and decks of this yacht. All gloss was colour matched to original gelcoat which was faded beyond repair. We used a special brushing 2 pack system that if done well is very similar to a sprayed finish. The decks were painted in a similar paint with fine glass beads for grit. […]
A quick side job with this deck hatch that had rotted plywood reinforcement strips around the edge. We removed the affected material and replaced it. It was then glassed over with epoxy to seal the material in. Externally we re-finished the gelcoat which was badly weathered.
A birthday is maybe an understatement concerning this Apollo Spaniard over-haul. The client was wanting a paint job mainly, however the list grew as we progressed. One major job added to the list was a new transom which was badly rotted. The new transom was replaced using ‘Thermolite board’ which is a composite panel, stronger […]
