Being a family heirloom, the owner of this ski boat remembers being on it as a child and all the great memories that comes with that. So needless to say how much sentimental attachment is connected with this boat. Now that it was his turn to give the boat a new lease on life on catch up on some of the maintenance required on a boat such as this, he had a long list! One of the main jobs was to re-clearcoat the original metal flake gelcoat finish which was red on deck and blue on the hull. Luckily the blue sides were still good but the back quarters and the transom needed work. The red on deck and on the engine cover had been damaged the most being in the full sun. We also gave the boat a health check and found that the internal wet-deck needed reinforcement after years of wear and tear. This was done with multiple layers of glass and epoxy to build up the strength again. Another job was to replace the gunnel rubber which set the boat off once all the paintwork was completed. We were please to keep all the original gelcoat as we had a plan B in place to possibly respray some areas in a matching white which would have not looked as good. The owner also asked us to glass together and flowcoat the back seat, mid floorboard and prop shaft cover which he made from composite panel. We also fitted new reinforcement pads to the bucket seats which were rotted. The trimmer is now working on the new upholstery to trim off the interior. Once all is done this boat should look almost as good as new!
