An out of control boat collided with 3 boats in this incident, one of which was this 24ft Roberts Longboat. The extent of the damage tore off the bowsprit, bow rail and related fittings. The rubber gunwale was also damaged which meant that the entire strip needed to be replaced. The deck and hull was cracked from the impact and required re-glassing. It was also discovered that the plywood backing pad below the bowsprit was rotten and needed to be replaced.

With all the structural hull and deck repairs complete, the new fittings could be re-installed. A new hardwood bowsprit was made including a new stainless support strut. New anchor roller and bollard were fitted as well as the new bowrail. The new gunwale rubber strip finished the job.
