Our good friends at Alistain fabricated up the alloy frame for this casting deck. We then took over modifying the original floorboards to suit, utilizing these boards to make a floor in the lockers below the new casting deck. The new casting deck was made from composite board and had two hatches cut into it for storage below. The front hatch gave access to the batteries which we mounted to the lower original floorboards. The aft hatch was for general storage and had plenty of space for things like life jackets and other bulky items. We flowcoated the composite board to finish off the hatches and hatch surrounds including the friction fittings etc. Once everything was carpeted including the casting deck front, the new deck matched in with the rest of the boat perfectly. In fact the owner is now considering getting all the old floorboards redone in composite. This material is strong, light and impervious to moisture or rot.
