We have had a run of Seafarers of late, the smaller model was in before this one which you may remember in a previous post. This Viking model came in for a transom replacement, new aft stringer repairs and a keel repair. Having seen the standard of our previous transom replacements using plywood, the owner was happy to save some cost over Thermolite and go with this option. Not that there’s anything wrong with a brand new plywood and epoxy transom! As per usual, we upgrade the transom in the process with extra glass wrapping over the top of the transom tying everything together and getting rid of the aluminium cover strip, so much stronger and no leaks! The new aft sections of stringers which were rotted were replaced with Thermolite and the floor was glued back down. The finishing coat was colour matched in polyurethane, ready for the owner to fit the engine.
