It doesn’t take much to punch a hole through the hull! This ski boat had some badly positioned bolts on the trailer which unfortunately were causing damage to to the hull without the knowledge of the owner. It wasn’t until the boat was very low in the water that he realised what was happening! One of these bolts had worn a hole through the corner of the Port side planing strake causing the boat to take on water. Once we lifted the boat onto work stands we could see that these bolts had damaged both sides of the hull, and there was damage along the other strakes as well. The other thing we discovered was 3 stainless screws that someone had put in through the floor to hold the drivers seat down were hanging out through the hull! The owner asked us to repair anything visible on the underside of the hull so we set to work re shaping all the strakes and repairing the hole. There was also some damage on the forefoot of the keel below the bow which was also repaired. We acid washed and polished all areas below the gunnel. One of the gunnel corner caps had been ripped off so we fitted two new matching caps. So once we were finished, the boat was in tip top condition again!
