Check out this tidy Stacer that unfortunately had its back floor rot out. When most tinnies are built they just use raw unpainted plywood for the floorboards and seats covered with carpet. They look and feel good when new but once moisture gets into the timber which is unavoidable it will rot. We did recommend to replace the floor with composite however the cost pushed it out of the customer’s budget and he opted for plywood again. However this time we will do it properly! All surfaces are coated with epoxy primer, even the screw holes to seal the timber and make it last. We also don’t use staples to hold the carpet in place which allows moisture to penetrate the timber, we use only glue to bond the carpet. And where the hinges and fittings are screwed to the plywood we use marine sealant to seal these holes. This boat goes out with the confidence of a job well done and that this floor will last through many years of use!
