Some may know the pump-out vessel for the Myall Lakes, the Independence. We did some emergency repairs last year up the Lakes when she got holed on a couple of different occasions during the Christmas period. We then carried out the final repairs a couple of months after that where focussing on the Port side below the water, we found a few other repairs which were dealt with during this period as well. We were contacted recently by the new owners who wanted a full assessment done of the boat to get an overview of the general condition. This revealed quite a few more repairs below the water on the Starboard side and quite few above the waterline. This hull is plywood over a timber frame however spending most of its life up on the Myall Lakes which is mostly freshwater, it has suffered quite a battle with rot getting into any exposed sections of the hull. Although the hull has been sheathed with fiberglass most of the damage has started from inside the hull. With the hull now all solid the Independence can continue her vital work assisting boaters up the Lakes!
