The fiberglass back on motorhomes need maintenance and upkeep just like fiberglass boats. Gelcoat is a great product and is very durable and long lasting however it does require a level of maintenance. This motorhome came in for some damage on the back pillar where someone has backed into something. The owner asked for an external detail while it was in since this hadn’t been done for some years. Because of the size of these vehicles, a full detail is a lot of work given the large surface area involved. The first step was a full and thorough acid wash, cleaning as well as giving the gelcoat a deep clean to remove any stain or discolouring. The acid wash assists in colour matching to get the repairs matched in as closely as possible and once blended and polished in can completely disappear. When washing down the roof we discovered another crack in the fiberglass skin which was also repaired. So this was done along with a few other repairs. After the final polish this motorhome was gleaming!
