You may remember this job from a previous post, where we removed the swing keel and the owner took it away to get it sandblasted and recoated. Now that all that work has been done, we have the boat back in to replace the keel. This became more work than expected as we had to make special aids to keep the keel vertical and then lift the keel into its case. It also took a few goes to get the position correct for the pivot pin. We machined Teflon wear pads to suit the clearance inside the case. This protected the newly coated keel and will reduce any slop when lowered. The boat needed to be lifted higher than when we removed the keel because we had the keel on a trolley and it was vertical. Once everything was fitted we lifted the boat back onto the trailer.
